Williamstown, Ho!

I’m off to Williamstown, Massachusetts tomorrow morning, to embark on a 2-month, 10-day journey of stage-handing, wood-sanding, set-standing, theater-branding, rubber-banding, anything-but-bland(ing) hard work as an Acting Apprentice at the Willliamstown Theatre Festival (see www.wtfestival.com for more information) from June 11-August 21. And as an homage to the celebratory nature of such an exciting endeavor, I have concocted a completely original poem that needs no name. It is simply pure, unadulterated, poetic bliss.

If anybody needs to contact me while I’m up there, I’ll be checking my e-mail, and will have my phone, and all that.

Here it is:

‘Twas the night before Williamstown

And all through the house

Not a Lerman was stirring, not even a mouse;

The duffel bags were placed in the foyer with care,

In hopes that Dad’s SUV soon would be there;

The actor was nustled all snug in his bed,

While visions of stage-lights hung in his head;

And mamma after a wine-glass and dad checking the tap,

Had just settled down for an evening-long nap…

God, you know what? This is blasphemous. I celebrate Hannukah.

I’ll know by the end of the week if any performances come my way during my time up here, at WTF (What The Festival?). More soon.
